Kos Town is the capital of the island, which combines various architectural styles from the ancient, medieval and modern years. Venetian buildings and well-preserved houses stand amidst shady plantation and lush green areas whereas the wide alleys create a relaxing and charming atmosphere in the town. A walk in the historic streets of the town reveals some of the most beautiful creations of ancient civilisations and the way of life during those years. It combines rarely found features like the charm of the old town, the city’s history, the look of new modern town full of life. Visitors enjoy their long walks along the beach, the small harbour, and the superb medieval castle. The port is lined by cafes and tavernas and its unbroken row of excursion boats, fishing vessels and fancy yachts bob and bristle against each other along the waterfront. Popular beaches stretch in either direction from the harbour. Some of the most important sightseeing’s of Kos Town is the imposing Castle of the Knights of Saint John which stands on the eastern side of the harbour and is connected to the rest of the town by a bridge that crosses the famous Palm Tree Avenue.
